Public officials in Louisville and beyond
Posted by: | CommentsHello again to my loyal gathering of readers. What’s another week without a revelation about our public officials? This week it was revealed that MSD has 18 employees making six figure salaries plus an average of $25,000 in bonuses for 2010. Another department feeding high on the hog from the public trough. This is a microcosm of the problem. There is no one to check the salaries of any public employees except other public employees. They are all living the high life at our expense both during their working and retirement years. It is a travesty. A well known fact is all departments make sure they spend all of their budget whether they need it or not so as to get a bigger budget each year. It’s past time to sic the dogs on the fat cats living at our expense.
I couldn’t let the week go by without joining the Weiner roast (pun intended). How arrogant do you have to be to put obscene pix of yourself on social media and not expect any consequences?
On another topic, the Dallas Mavericks tied up the NBA series final 2-2 on Tuesday night. Winning game 5 on Thursday is a must if they are to prevent the trio of thugs from an NBA title.
I read with interest Cal Thomas’ column in the Courier this week. It was about the sad state of medicine in the UK. He mentioned the poor standard of care, asking about the method of death preferred by the terminally ill, the long waiting time to see specialists, the lack of advanced equipment, and the enormous debt being incurred by the government. This is the system we are trying to copy?
Lastly, on a pleasant note, I went Monday to hear the legendary Glenn Miller Orchestra. Note I said hear, not see. It was a wonderful experience to hear songs with a nice melody and words you can understand as opposed to today’s music which relies on dance moves and drum beats. Yes, those were the good old days.
Until next week, Doc.

Posted by: | CommentsIs anyone excited about the World Cup Soccer Tournament? Anyone? I fail to see why certain factions keep trying to promote soccer to a country that clearly couldn’t care less. It may be OK for countries that don’t have the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc. but for US (pun intended) soccer is 2nd rate and boring. The other countries can continue to drool at what we have here.
Our church softball team continued its pattern of making the other teams very happy every Monday night. I hope we get it together before the end of the season tourney.
Does anyone like what California is proposing for elections? I think it is a great idea. Open primaries with the top two finishers going on to the general election regardless of party affiliation. Of course, both parties are going to court to try to block it. They think they own the election process and it can’t happen without them. They are both scared of being irrelevant. I say sayonara to both. We would be better off without parties.
Lastly, the heat is becoming very oppressive for this early in the summer. I don’t want a repeat of 2007 with all the 100 degree days. Bring on some cooler days!
