Nerlens Noel Will Be a Wildcat
Posted by: | CommentsHello again to my loyal assemblage of readers. Kudos to the Wildcats in landing Nerlens Noel, the best young big man this side of Anthony Davis. Still, the Cats need to land a good power forward and hope at least one starting guard returns to school. I would prefer Lamb. That would give us a solid 7-8 men rotation for next year. As it stands right now, they only have 7 total scholarship players for next year plus whoever decides to return, if anyone. We like to live on the edge, but some year injuries will kill us at this rate.
The Reds are off to a slow start and, as usual, Dusty Baker has already blown one game and almost blown another by leaving his starter in until the 7th inning. The bullpen, so far, leaves a lot to be desired. Only Bray, Marshall, Ondrusek, and Chapman have been effective. Homer Bailey still can’t cut it and Rolen, Stubbs, and Ludwick are giving them nothing. Let us hope all the big money contracts don’t make the team complacent.
Two stories in the news I would like to comment on, the Supreme Court healthcare case and the new state insurance law. Since when are judges that uphold the constitution considered activist? Media types point to Medicare as an example of mandated insurance, but a constitutional amendment was passed to allow this, not a partisan congressional note. Also, the media are all up in arms concerning no longer allowing health insurance companies to set the fees for items they don’t cover. This is no more than fair. This would be like me taking money from you and then telling your plumber he can only charge you $50 to install your toilet. Whatever happened to free enterprise? Healthcare professionals are not going to spend years in school and invest in their businesses to be slaves to the government and the insurance companies!
Until next time, Doc.
Kentucky Kingdom Gets a New Name
Posted by: | CommentsHello this week to my bevy of loyal readers. Well, the new office is getting closer to completion. We are still waiting on ceiling lights, a parking lot, and a couple of other odds and ends but, by and large, most things are functioning. Now it’s just getting use to it.
I was very surprised to see Holiday World take over Kentucky Kingdom (Bluegrass Boardwalk). That seems to me to be competing against yourself unless they were afraid of someone else taking over the park. It seemed to me that it might have just disappeared for good without the intervention by Holiday World. I hope they know what they are doing.
I was very glad to see the casino gambling bill go under. All the liberal media keep saying we ought to be allowed to vote on it. It ruins lives. We elect representatives to hopefully do what is best for us. If left up to people to vote, we could have all legalized drugs, legalized prostitution and who knows what else. Some states are headed down that path because they sell their souls for added tax revenue. Let us hope Kentucky remains better than that. If we would cut down on entitlement spending, we wouldn’t need the tax revenue. If we could do one thing and encourage families to be intact before adding children, we would be so much better off. All entitlements do is give government more control over our lives. Anytime the government gives you anything, they can tell you what to do with it and how and when you can use it. Think about it.
Until next week, Doc.
We’re Finally Moving In!
Posted by: | CommentsWell the day has finally arrived and we are moving into the new office. Not that it isn’t still putting up its share of computer glitches, equipment troubles, needed changes and modifications. I think my staff was either planning mutiny or murder on Monday, but they were troopers and we managed our way through it all. Bless my staff for all they put up with and their steadfast dedication. I couldn’t do it without them. My only regret is that my Mother didn’t live long enough to see this day. She would have been proud.
I was pleasantly surprised today when an old friend I haven’t seen in close to 30 years walked into my office. He has recently moved into the Louisville area and took the time to look me up. As another good friend recently commented on her blog about how the world is working its best to tear down relationships by always promising something better is just over the fence, it is good to be reminded of where you come from in order to see where you are going. It is good to reconnect with these who cared about you in the past as well as those who care about you in the present. Contentment starts with yourself and those who love you. If you think the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, remember God’s love and try watering a little more.
Until next week, DOC
